A. Catherine Tice lived in Dade City during the depression and graduated from Pasco High School in 1935. She wanted to help other students from Pasco High School achieve their dreams.

The Accounting Technology Scholarship was established in 2013 to assist students enrolled part or full time at PHSC in the Accounting Technology degree track.

AdventHealth Wesley Chapel Health Programs Scholarship endowed fund will be used to fund student scholarships for those enrolled full or part time in any health occupations degree or certificate tracks offered at PHSC.

AdventHealth Zephyrhills Foundation Scholarship provides scholarships to those students pursuing a degree in nursing who reside in Pasco or Hernando County.

The Agnes E. Lucas and Alexander V. Lucas Memorial Scholarship was established in 2003 to provide assistance to deserving PHSC students who attend classes at the New Port Richey campus and demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship was established in memory of one of the West Pasco Branch's members, Irene Sartain.

American Data & Computer Products, Inc. established this scholarship in 2000 to provide financial assistance to students pursing a degree in the technology field.

Members of the Anclote Earth Science Club have an interest in geology. The club decided to endow a scholarship in memory of two long-time members, Irene and Jack Van Balen, who taught many of the club's members about geology and its history.

The Andrew C. and June E. Balog Scholarship was established in 2008 to provide scholarships for those students who have attended the PHSC Preparation GED program or attended Pasco County Schools Underage and Dropout Prevention and earned a GED.

Andrew "Andy" Oravec, Jr. was CEO of the Columbia/HCA New Port Richey Hospital, formerly Community Hospital of New Port Richey and currently Medical Center of Trinity, before his retirement. He is a member of PHSC Foundation's President's Club Founders. This scholarship was established in his honor.

The Cook family is a family of American patriots. At least three generations have served in the military. 

The Bank of America "Dream Makers" Scholarship was established in 1998 through a $1 million contribution from Bank of America and matched by the State of Florida through the Dr. Phillip Benjamin Matching Program. The earnings from the endowment are awarded to first-generation students around Florida to cover tuition, books, fees and childcare.

Originally this scholarship was established by NationsBank as part of the Performing Arts Center Endowment. The fund has evolved and now supports student scholarships through Bank of America.

Barnett Bank's support of PHSC began with an interest in the Performing Arts Center. The bank was part of a "Corporate Challenge Wheel," in which organizations pledged to contribute to PHSC Foundation over several years. The program eventually established scholarships for PHSC students.

The Bayfront Health Dade City Volunteer Foundation, Inc. Annual Scholarship was established in 2015 to support PHSC students enrolled in a health program.

Harriet Matzek is a Spring Hill resident who established scholarships in memory of her husband, Benjamin L., and her daughter, Carolyn. Her husband was a soil scientist, and the scholarship created in his memory gives preference to students with an interest in environmental science.

This scholarship was established by Bob and Lisa Bade to support PHSC students.

The American Legion Auxiliary Zephyr Unit created this scholarship in honor of three of its members, Mrs. Briggs, Mrs. Hopper and Mrs. Hall.

The mission of the Brooksville Garden Club is to further the education of members and the public in fields of gardening, horticulture, botany, landscape design, artistic design, conservation of the natural roadside development, youth gardening and nature studies.

The mission of Brooksville Healthcare Center is to serve residents with superior care in a loving, dignified and compassionate manner. They do this by engaging highly trained, competent and caring team members and supporting our PHSC community. 

Kiwanis Club of Brooksville was founded in 1923. Over the years, the club has held many fundraisers to help assist with community projects, including sponsoring youth groups, highway clean-ups, raising money to benefit children and children's support groups, and providing scholarships.

This scholarship was initiated by Mr. Tom Deen, Brooksville Kiwanis Club member and a founding member of PHSC Foundation, and his two daughters, Ms. Barbara Wilson and Ms. Gloria Cardwell in honor of Mrs. Betty Jo Deen. Mrs. Deen was a retired Hernando County teacher and a great advocate of the community, particularly of youth and the Kiwanis Club. Mrs. Deen passed away in 1999 after a long battle with Lou Gehrig's disease.

This scholarship was established by the Hernando County Bicentennial Committee, chaired by Colonel Thomas Deen, in honor of the country's 200th birthday.

Carol Gunn Heasley was an esteemed kindergarten teacher at Northwest Elementary School in Hudson. Her colleagues joined together to establish an endowed scholarship in her memory.

Cathy Glassman was a media specialist at Hudson High School. She passed away in 2001 after a long battle with cancer. The staff of Hudson High School initiated the Cathy Glassman Memorial Scholarship in her honor.

CenterState Bank established this scholarship in support of the $1 Million Nursing Scholarship Challenge.

Charles E. Conger's association with PHSC began after a tour of the East Campus in Dade City to see the construction of the library. He was very impressed, and bequeathed the College more than $1 million. The library at the East Campus in Dade City is named in his honor.

This endowed scholarship was established by Jayne Shearer Vaughn in honor and loving memory of her daughter, Cheryl Vaughn Elliott who had a heart of gold.

Voiture Locale 1576, 40/8 is the honor society of the American Legion organization formed after World War I in 1921. Only Legionnaire members are invited to join. The numbers in the name are based on the insignia on French boxcars that transported soldiers (40) or horses (8) during World War I. In 1955, the group recognized the shortage of nurses and began to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a nursing degree. This scholarship was established in honor of well-known Voiture member, Chester Poznanski, and his wife Delores.

Norman Pingley, a former Hernando High School coach and teacher, joined the PHSC family in 1976 as an admissions specialist. During his nearly 30-year emloyment at PHSC, Pingley worked in the Admissions Department and taught in the Physical Education Department. He originated the Intramural Athletic Program and was the North Campus basketball coach. Pingley was the inaugural PHSC athletic director and coached the original girls' softball team.

In honor of Pingley's 75th birthday, his family established the Coach Norm Pingley Scholarship.

When the Spring Hill Campus opened its doors, the Community Foundation of Hernando County was there to offer scholarships to incoming students.

The Community Foundation of Pasco County facilitated the establishment of this scholarship from the Myrtle Phillips Baker Memorial Fund. Ms. Baker was a registered nurse with more than 40 years of service in the health industry. She was eternally appreciative and committed to the field of nursing.

Mr. Wayne R. Coulter and the Community United Methodist Church established this scholarship endowment in 1982 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The PHSC Foundation received a generous grant from the Community Foundation of Tampa Bay designated for the Concept College program. This scholarship was established to assist student(s) who participated in Concept College during high school.

This scholarship was established to assist students pursuing a degree in the public safety field.

Ruth Touchton, known as "Miss Polly" to many in Pasco County, was passionate about the Dade City Woman's Club, which was founded In 1909 by her mother. Her community work included many projects, but one of the most well-known was making possible the construction of the Woman's Club House. With a great sense of humor and zest for life, Ms. Touchton lived to be 99 years old. The Dade City Woman's Club established this scholarship in her honor.

Teresa Sturgill was a Florida native, born in Miami. She was a successful real estate agent who served as president of the Hernando County Association of REALTORS, and was honored as REALTOR of the year. She achieved much success, even though she had a learning disability. She was an adventuresome person who enjoyed boating, camping and motorcycles, and even joined the State Alligator Hunt when the opportunity arose. Teresa, whose generosity was boundless, passed away after a long battle with cancer at the age of 55.

Ms. Dorothy Trompeter established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Mr. David Dewey Trompeter.

The David Yenkinson and Ann V. Yenkinson Scholarship was established in 2007 to assist students pursuing a degree in nursing or health sciences.

Deborah Amburgey was an employee of PHSC for 34 years before she passed away after a long battle with cancer in 2015. PHSC faculty and staff established this scholarship in memory of Deborah.

Dr. Debra J. Hay spent many years as a counselor and social worker. She came to PHSC in 1986 as the Assistant Dean of Student Services, and was later promoted to Dean of Student Services. Debbie loved the community college system and PHSC. Her family, friends and PHSC staff and faculty established this scholarship in her memory.

PHSC alumnus, Conor Schmelter (1993-2001), was a dedicated deputy sheriff with the Pasco County Sheriff's Office for five years until his passing in September 2021. Born and raised in Pasco County, Conor made friends and found family at every stop in his life.  

After graduating from Pasco High School in 2011, he enrolled at PHSC where he earned his Associate in Arts degree before pursuing his bachelor’s degree in management at Saint Leo University. Upon graduation, he could not resist the call to service that so many in his family had heard before him and shortly thereafter, Conor returned to PHSC to attend the Law Enforcement Academy.  

In 2016, he was hired as a deputy for the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office where he took great honor in serving and protecting the citizens of his hometown.   

A giving and loyal brother to his team members and friends, he believed in making the world a better place in any way he could. Through the Deputy Conor Schmelter Memorial Scholarship, his legacy will continue to make a difference in the lives of PHSC students pursuing a career in law enforcement. 

This scholarship was established in memory of Deputy John C. Mecklenburg.  This scholarship is for students 25 years of age or older who are enrolled in the PHSC Law Enforcement Academy. 

Mr. and Mrs. Des and Mickey Little, along with the Rotary Club of New Port Richey, created this endowment in 1989 to assist PHSC students in pursuing a degree.

Fund used to help pay the enrollment fee for students in the GED Preparatory Program. The fund is in memory of the donor's mother, Diane P. Crawford, who earned her GED and then went on to receive an associate's degree from PHSC.

The Diane Rowden scholarship gives provides scholarships to PHSC students that reside in Hernando County and demonstrate financial need.

Mr. Henry Dignus, Jr. established this endowed scholarship in 1977 to assist deserving PHSC students.

This scholarship was PHSC's first scholarship to be named after an entire family and also to be provided by an alumnus. The Dixon family has contributed to the fund over many years, sometimes in lieu of birthday and Christmas gifts to one another.

Dola Creekmore loved the youth in the community and was always interested in their advancement.

The Doris Barkley Schlegel Scholarship was established in 2005 to assist PHSC students.

Dorothy Davidson enjoyed college so much that she had a colorful history at Columbia, Duke and Yale. Her support of PHSC began in 1975 after she took a continuing education course on hypnosis. She had a particular interest in helping women attain college degrees and decided to endow a scholarship at PHSC for female students.

When Dr. Bharat Desai and his wife, Meena, wanted to make a contribution to help Pasco County students, his experience as a young student inspired him to help others. Dr. Desai grew up in a small remote village in India called Ori and despite his family's financial situation, he was able to go to college because the cost of higher education is less expensive in India than it is in the United States. In India if you are bright you don't need much money to go to college, and that is the difference, he says. "Here, I've seen so many bright students who can't go to college because it is so costly and they don't have any financial resources."

Because of this, the Desai's were moved to help local students. The scholarship will provide financial support for PHSC nursing students. The Desai's hope their gift will encourage others in the community to give as well.

This endowment was established in 2017 by Dr. Rao Musunuru in honor of Dr. Donald Vierling's support and loyalty to PHSC.

Dr. Felisha Renee Barker was a beloved academic advisor on PHSC's East Campus in Dade City. She attended Pasco High School and was senior class president of the 1991 graduating class. She received an AA from PHSC, while serving as president of the SGA. She continued her studies, earning a BA from UCF, a master's degree from St. Leo University, and a doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. In addition to her academic achievements, Dr. Barker was vice president of the African American Heritage Society of East Pasco, a member and advisor of Uhuru, advisor of the Florida African American Student Association, and a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. She died tragically at the young age of 31 in 2005.

Nancy Kelso created this endowed fund to provide scholarships and fund programs of staff development. Ms. Kelso served as president for two terms of the Friends of the (West Campus Library) Museum. Her husband, Dr. John Kelso, was a physicist and world-renowned scientist. She is a professional genealogist.

During her time as President of PHSC, Dr. Katherine Johnson voluntarily served as a Workforce Board Member and was deeply involved in their integrated approach to developing a quality workforce as a catalyst for economic growth.  In honor of these efforts the Pasco Hernando Workforce Board of Directors established this annual scholarship in Dr. Johnson’s honor for non-traditional students who are seeking a PHSC education.

The Dr. Katherine M. Johnson Endowed Scholarship was established in 2015 to assist deserving PHSC students.  This endowment was created with funds raised through the 3rd Annual Bash at the Ranch.  The Bash at the Ranch was a celebration of Dr. Johnson and her retirement as PHSC President.

In Honor of Dr. Marion D. Bullock, Former PHSC Provost at East Campus and member of Delta Kappa Gamma

Dr. Michael D. Head was an oral surgeon who practiced in Spring Hill. He thought highly of the PHSC dental hygiene program. His family endowed a scholarship for dental students in his memory.

Milton O. Jones, Ph.D. was PHSC's first president, from 1972 until his retirement in 1994. He oversaw the construction of all three campuses and the Spring Hill Center, and the establishment of the PHSC Foundation in 1975. Today, the retired president and colonel is a rancher in Zephyrhills and an active Rotarian. In addition to raising money to support foundations that help National Guard personnel and their families, Dr. Jones has endowed three scholarships through the PHSC Foundation. This scholarship was established by his family, friends and PHSC colleagues in honor of his continuous support of PHSC.

Dr. Muralidhar K. Acharya has the utmost respect for nurses and wished to establish an endowed fund in memory of his father Mr. Kalmanje Hari Achar. 

The Dr. Richard C. Braun Memorial Scholarship Fund was established by Dr. Beatrice S. Braun in memory of her husband. Dr. Braun, a native of Buffalo, NY, served as a Jesuit priest prior to his marriage in 1970. He completed his Ph.D. at Fordham University and started a corporation, Human Resources Group, the first to offer employee assistance programs to large corporations, a concept that grew rapidly in the corporate world. After retirement, Dr. Braun moved to Florida and served on various boards and committees. Along with his wife, Dr. Braun was a SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) volunteer in Hernando County, helping seniors understand and select appropriate health insurance options. Dr. Braun was committeed to supporting programs that fostered educational opportunities for disadvantaged African-American students at PHSC.

The mission of the Rotary Club of Brooksville is to serve the Object of Rotary International - to promote Fellowship, Humanitarian Service, Vocational Understanding, World Peace and Goodwill - by selecting and developing a community of business and professional leaders of high ethical standards.

Dr. Robert Judson, Jr. was PHSC's second president, beginning in 1994. Dr. Judson's career at PHSC began in 1972 as a counselor/instructor in Dade City before there was even a college campus. He taught the first-ever PHSC course and the following year became PHSC's first coordinator of financial aid. After serving as dean of the East Campus in Dade City, Dr. Judson was offered the provost's job in 1983. Soon after he was named executive vice president. His appointment was particularly ground-breaking, as he was the first African-American president of the modern Florida Community College system.

The Duke Energy Foundation established this scholarship in 2019 to provide financial support to PHSC students pursuing a degree in engineering or drafting and design technology.

The Duke Energy Foundation established this scholarship in 2017 with the goal of supporting effective education programs that address the needs of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), and boost workforce development. 

The Duke Energy Foundation was the Presenting Sponsor for the 2018 Perfoming Arts Series at PHSC. Through their sponsorship, they provided an annual scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year.

This scholarship was established by the family members of E. H. "Ed" Browning, Jr. who passed away in 1972 at an early age. Mr. Browning's son, Mark Browning, was a member of PHSC's District Board of Trustees.

Edna M. Oehlenschlager left PHSC Foundation a substantial contribution in trust. She wanted to give needy students the opportunity to attend PHSC. She was very fond of the West Campus in New Port Richey.

The Edith & J. Wesley Richards Scholarship was established in 1985 to assist PHSC students who demonstrate financial need and are in good academic standing.

One of our very special donors, Mr. Edward K. Roberts, left a legacy to support community colleges in Florida. Mr. Roberts established the Edward K. Roberts Community College Fund of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County to distribute funds to underfunded community colleges, to other charitable organizations and to address emerging needs he felt strongly and passionately about. We are so pleased that Mr. Roberts had the vision to make higher education a priority, particularly for those motivated to make a better life for themselves.

Mr. Edward K. Roberts designated his gift of 1,000 shares of Quaker Oats stock for scholarships at PHSC.

Mr. Frtiz Koerner and children, Joan and David, established this scholarship in memory of their wife and mother, Elizabeth A. Koerner. Ms. Koerner was an accomplished businesswoman and had a keen interest in community affairs. She was active in many clubs and organizations including the Beacon Woods Social Club. Because of Elizabeth's "avid interest in broadening one's horizons," the family decided that a memorial scholarship was a fitting tribute.

Philip Bailey created this scholarship for nursing students in memory of his late wife, Elizabeth. He believed that nurses are committed to serving humanity and wanted to help them with their education.

The Embarq Scholarship was established in 1994 to assist students to pursue a degree at PHSC.

In 2018, Mary Ann Buel established the Ervin Hasse Memorial Scholarship in honor of her father. At the age of 13, Mr. Hasse had to quit school when his father was killed in a coal mining accident. He had to work in order to support his mother and himself.

The Ervin Hasse Memorial Endowed Scholarship will assist a female PHSC student who demonstrates financial need.

Through her trust, Mrs. Eleanor Geller created three scholarships for PHSC, including the Everett and Eleanor Geller Scholarship in memory of her and her husband.

This scholarship was established with proceeds from PHSC's 40th Anniversary Bash at the Ranch held on April 13, 2013.

The Ford W. Bowers and Donna J. Bowers Scholarship was established in 2006 to help students pursue their degree.

The Fotta-Hillen Scholarship was established in 1998 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The Florida College System Foundation founded three scholarships, Dr. Phillip Benjamin, Albert Leroy Brown, and Clark Maxwell.

Francis Juanita Johnston Hancock was from a family with deep roots in the community. Her ancestors settled in Florida as soon as it became a territory. She was devoted to her family and friends, and spent many weekends and evenings caring for those who needed a ride, a meal or some company.

This scholarship was established in 1985 to assist PHSC students pursuing a degree in law enforcement or corrections.

Fred K. Marchman was a fixture in the Pasco County school system and a former New Port Richey City Council member. He was a math teacher at Gulf High School and principal of Richey Elementary School. He also served as superintendent of Pasco County schools. He was a very charitable person who was always concerned about the education of young people.

This scholarship was established by the Gary L. Blackwell Charitable Foundation to support first generation in college students who are pursuing a health science degree and demonstrate financial need.

The George E. Peterson and Mary G. Peterson Scholarship was established in 2006 to assist PHSC students who demonstrate financial need.

The mission of Heather Hill Healthcare Center is to serve residents with superior care in a loving, dignified and compassionate manner. They do this by engaging highly trained, competent and caring team members and supporting our PHSC community. 

This scholarship was established through a sponsorship from the Second Annual Bash at the Ranch held on April 12, 2014.

The Helene Koerner Gahlen Scholarship was established in 1995 to assist PHSC students pursue their dreams of higher education.

Mrs. Ardis Martin established the Henry and Ardis Martin Scholarship in 1997 to provide scholarships to PHSC students pursuing a degree in nursing or art.

The Henry Kohout, Jr. Memorial Scholarship was established in 2018 to assist PHSC students who are veterans or a lineal descendant of a veteran. Scholarship candidates must reside in Pasco County and have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate financial need.

Voiture Locale 1576, 40/8 is the honor society of the American Legion organization formed after World War I in 1921. Only Legionnaire members are invited to join. The numbers in the name are based on the insignia on French boxcars that transported soldiers (40) or horses (8) during World War I. In 1955, the group recognized the shortage of nurses and began to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a nursing degree. This scholarship was established in memory of Henry Poznanski, the brother of well-known Voiture member, Chester Poznanski.

The Hernando County Restaurant Association Scholarship was established in 1996 to assist PHSC students who graduated from a Hernando County high school or reside in Hernando County.

The Hernando Healthcare Foundation, Inc. Annual Scholarship was established to assist PHSC student who reside in Hernando county and are enrolled in a health program.

The Hernando Healthcare Foundation, Inc. Radiography Scholarship was established in 2010 to provide scholarships to PHSC students pursuing a degree in radiography.

The Hernando Healthcare Foundation, Inc. Scholarship was established in 2010 to provide scholarships to PHSC students pursuing a degree in nursing.

The purpose of the Florida Blue Nursing and Allied Health Scholarship is to provide a sustained source of funding for student scholarships in nursing and allied health programs in order to meet the growing need for skilled nurses and allied health professionals who serve the diverse population of Florida.

This scholarship was established in 2008 to provide scholarships to students pursuing a degree in engineering or applied welding technologies.

The Hernando RealtorsAmerican Dream Scholarship was established in 2003 to provide scholarships to PHSC students who reside in Hernando County and demonstrate financial need.

The Holiday Rotary Club Scholarship was established in 1990 to provide scholarships to PHSC students that demonstrate financial need and reside in West Pasco.

The Human Services Club at PHSC provides a medium for cooperation and communication among area human services and mental health professionals, faculty and students. It also helps members with career development and placement.

Humana Healthy Horizons in Florida recognizes the shortage of available healthcare workforce across Florida and wants to encourage and empower our next generation of healthcare professionals through this opportunity. Our goal is to support students interested in healthcare careers through this scholarship to successfully complete their education and subsequently enter into the healthcare workforce to serve populations in need.              

Former PHSC District Board of Trustees member Lois Linville established this scholarship in memory of her husband, Jack Linville, owner of Zephyr Egg Co. and longtime resident of Zephyrhills.

Dr. James L. Hollingsworth was known to many as "Doc" or "Tex." He was a beloved professor on PHSC's West Campus in New Port Richey for many years. His family, friends and colleagues established the scholarship in his memory to honor his commitment and dedication to education.

James Yant was hired as PHSC's first minority recruiter in 1975 and was promoted to coordinator of counseling on the North Campus, where he served until his resignation in 1986. He was instrumental in the helping students start PHSC's UHURU club, a club for minority students. Yant was appointed as a College trustee in 1993 where he served as chairman. Yant was also a member of the Foundation Board of Directors until 2007.

James and Linda Johnson established this scholarship to assist PHSC students who reside in Pasco County and may not qualify for other financial aid.

Mr. James Edward Starling was a longtime friend of PHSC. He was instrumental in getting the land donated in Dade City for PHSC's first campus, the East Campus.

James Santella was a firefighter, PHSC alum, friend, beloved son, brother, husband and proud father.  His family was his most important priority.  His passing from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease, inspired the creation of the James Santella Foundation to honor his memory. The James Santella Foundation helps provide resources and financial support to those in the local community suffering from ALS.  The Foundation offers academic scholarships to PHSC students who are Hernando County residents or those who have graduated from a Hernando County high school, that are interested in a rewarding career in fire rescue.

Scholarship was established to support students who exhibit financial need who are continuing education in spite of personal hardships and who may not have the best academic record.

Janis L.Hill was a graduate of the RN nursing program at PHSC and a hospice nurse for seven years. While at PHSC, some of Janis's fellow students struggled with finances in getting through their nursing courses. Janis recently passed away and her family established a scholarship for those nursing students with financial need in honor of Janis.

In 2011, the Jeff Miller Scholarship was established and matched equally by the Rotary Club of New Port Richey. This scholarship assists PHSC students who reside in Pasco County.

The Jeffrey & Kathleen Kinnunen Scholarship was created by the West Pasco Dental Association. Dr. Niles Kinnunen, who was president of the association at the time, initiated the scholarship named in memory of his son, Jeffrey, and his wife, Kathleen, who was a dental hygenist. Dr. Kinnunen was a founding member of the PHSC Foundation Board of Directors.

Jerome Griffin, Sr. was a Brooksville native, Hernando High School alumnus, Army veteran, little league coach, member of Kennedy Youth Club and church trustee. This scholarship was established in 2021 in his memory.

Joan Kohr was a vibrant and dedicated member of PHSC's nursing department. Her family, friends, and colleagues established the scholarship to benefit nursing students in her memory.

Martha Ayers' concern for young people was exemplified in her dedication and service over 30 years as a social studies teacher and youth leader in Hernando County. John Ayers was a native of Hernando County and was a high school basketball star. He was a county commissioner for 20 years, then a state representative for 10 years. They never had any children of their own but were very interested in the welfare of the youth of Hernando County. Mr. and Mrs. Ayers were longtime supporters of PHSC and were selected by Phi Theta Kappa as honorary members.

Joseph J. Evessa served in the US military and was a member of American Legion Voiture 1576, 40/8, the honor society of the American Legion organization. During his lifetime, he contributed his time and energy to the promotion of community well-being, patriotism, and the American way of life. Mr. Evessa received many awards for his patriotism including the George Washington Principal Honor Medal Award.

The Joseph and Susan Cristofaro Scholarship was established in 1993 to assist deserving PHSC students.

Judy Case has served PHSC as a college trustee and member of the PHSC Foundation Board of Directors. Actively involved in local civic and non-profit organizations, Judy is the retired founder of Comprehensive Rehabilitation Services of Hudson. Commenting on the events that led her to create this scholarship Ms. Case said, "While shopping at a local supermarket not long ago, I struck up a conversation with a young employee. When I asked him about his plans for college, he said he could not even afford to attend a 2-year college. This really made an impression on me. I knew I had to help."

The Julia Rachler Memorial Scholarship provides assistance to PHSC students pursuing a degree in nursing.

Dr. Julius R. Mantey was a longtime supporter of PHSC and wanted to see students succeed. Dr. Mantey decided to donate 364 shares of RCA Corporation stock to create a scholarship that would help members of First Baptist Church of New Port Richey to pay for their higher education at PHSC. ​Candidates for this scholarship should contact the Church for an additional application to be submitted to the Church along with letters of recommendation from members of the Church. 

Junior Service League of Brooksville is an organization of women who are committed to improving the Hernando County community through volunteerism. They hope to inspire other young ladies to get involved in their community and give back through service efforts and community projects.

The Junior Service League of New Port Richey established this endowed scholarship to support students who were returning to school after an extended absence. The league also donated the funds needed to purchase a Steinway piano for PHSC's Performing Arts Center.

After having retired from the coast guard, Ken Boyer was pursuing a degree in education to become a English teacher. He was a brilliant writer and tutored students in the NC Learning Center.

Phyllis Wrench, wife of Kenneth and a faculty member of PHSC, founded this fund in memory of her husband.

Kimberly Montgomery dedicated her life to nursing and caring for others. She served 21 years as a nurse at North Bay Hospital, first as an LPN, then RN and went on to complete her BSN. Kimberly knew that her calling in life was to be a nurse and care for others from a young age and our hope is that this scholarship will help others like-minded students achieve their goals.

The Kiwanis Club of Dade City established this scholarship in 1990 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The Kiwanis Club volunteers are changing the world through service to children and communities. Kiwanis members help shelter the homeless, feed the hungry, mentor the disadvantaged, and care for the sick. They develop youth as leaders, build playgrounds, raise funds for pediatric research, and much more. The Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill established this scholarship in 1991 to assist deserving PHSC students.

Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time.

Mr. Jack Weidlich was a longtime member of the Kiwanis Club of Zephyrhills.

Kristine "Kris" Ullrich taught at Lacoochee Elementary School in Pasco County for 14 years. She had a natural empathy for students who seemed to have been shortchanged in life. Economically disadvantaged and learning-disabled children struck a special chord in Kristine. Upon her death, a group of teachers decided to establish an endowed scholarship in her name to benefit the alumni of Lacoochee Elementary.

L.C. Hawes, Sr. lived in Dade City for more than 60 years and earned his living in the citrus business. He was a member of Dade City First United Methodist Church.

The Land O' Lakes Board of Realtors Scholarship was established in 2003 to provide financial assistance to PHSC students who have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and demonstrate financial need.

The Land O' Lakes-Wesley Chapel Rotary Club established the Land O' Lakes Rotary Club Advanced Technology Scholarship in 1994 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The Law Enforcement Roundtable was originally created to provide scholarships to high school seniors, enabling them to take introductory courses in law enforcement. The scholarship now benefits students entering law enforcement or police academy training.

The 2001 class of Leadership Pasco initiated the establishment of this scholarship. Leadership Pasco is designed to prepare potential leaders to meet the challenges facing Pasco County. The experience provides interaction with key decision-makers and experts, and an understanding of the forces that help shape the community.

Lee Ann Larmon was a well-known PHSC student who was studying to become an accountant. Her family and friends, and PHSC students established this scholarship in her memory.

This scholarship was established in 2001 to provide financial assistance to students with a 3.0 GPA or higher that are pursing a degree in legal assisting.

LEMA Construction was the co-presenting sponsor of the 2016 Clay Shoot Tournament.  This scholarship was created to assist deserving PHSC students.

Linda Bishop Tew was PHSC's first Hernando County dual enrollment student and a graduate of both PHSC and USF. She began her career in law enforcement as served as a Pasco County probation and parole officer. She died unexpectedly in her sleep at the age of 46. Scholarship will support students in PHSC's law related programs.

She was a long-time gardener at the Chinsegut Manor House. She helped establish the Chinsegut Nature Center and a Hernando chapter of the Audubon Society. She was one of the state's pioneering environmentalists and an accomplished naturalist. She died in 2001 at the age of 97.

Milton O. Jones, Ph.D. was PHSC's first president. He served as president from 1972 until his retirement in 1994. He oversaw the construction of all three campuses and the Spring Hill Center, and also the establishment of PHSC Foundation. Dr. Jones has established three scholarships in honor of family members and friends. Lois E. Trotter was his maternal grandmother.

This scholarship was established to assist first generation in college PHSC students. Lucy Morgan, PHSC class of 1975, was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in the investigative reporting category. In the 1960s, as a divorced woman raising three children, she entered the non-traditional world of investigative reporting and made history. Morgan retired from her latest position as Tallahassee Bureau Chief for the St. Petersburg Times. She still serves as a contributing writer to the Times, and is a legend among journalists. Morgan recieved PHSC's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009. The St. Petersburg Times established this annual scholarship to honor Morgan.

Mae Simpson was involved with PHSC for many years, serving as a charter member of the Friends of the (West Campus Library) Museum. A Chicago native, Ms. Simpson moved to the area from Michigan in the late 1960s and was very active in many local organizations. She funded an annual scholarship at PHSC beginning in 1979.

Dr. Frank M. Johnston and the Hernando County Medical Society endowed this scholarship in memory of Dr. Johnston's late wife, Margaret Moore Johnston, to benefit students pursuing entry-level positions in health occupations.

Mr. Gregory J. Bailey established this scholarship in memory of his late wife, Marian. She enjoyed the arts, especially sewing, quilting and crafts.

This scholarship was established by Dr. Rao Musunuru in 2018 in honor of PHSC District Board of Trustee, Marilyn Pearson-Adams.

Marion E. Kress was the chief nursing officer at Community Hospital of New Port Richey. Upon her retirement, the hospital staff created this scholarship in her honor.

Marion Steffey Schmidt was interested in helping Native American students with their higher education and wanted to establish a scholarship at PHSC. She lived in Dade City and was very involved in the local community. After her death, her family and friends honored her wishes by establishing an endowed scholarship in her name.

Marjorie Sugg was a dedicated PHSC staff member for nearly ten years and was a true educator in every sense of the word. She had an enormous gift for both teaching and caring for students. As an administrator, she brought with her a special advocacy role for the student population and rallied, often passionately, for the causes that she believed in.

Marjorie Kennedy Wilson rose through the ranks of Union Carbide Corporation to become the executive administrative asistant to the chairman of the board. This scholarship is intended for office systems technology students.

Helen St. Clair of New Port Richey became involved with PHSC through her sister-in-law, who was a member of the Friends of the (West Campus Library) Museum. Mrs. St. Clair epitomized gentility and Southern charm at its most down-to-earth. "I'm so happy that I could make the scholarship possible," she said before her death at the age of 89. She established the scholarship in her and her husband's name for students who are interested in education.

Marlene put her family first in life, but dearly loved all children. As an avid reader, she was excited about learning and cared deeply for people, so she became a dedicated nurse to serve her community. Until the end of life, Marlene stayed brave, strong and loving, as we will always remember her.

The Hernando Education Foundation established this endowed fund in 1997 to provide scholarships to students pursing a degree in the health field.

Martha Sojourner was the Division Director of Health Programs at PHSC.

The Estate of Mary Ann Hess provided unrestricted funds to the PHSC Foundation, Inc. to be used where the need is greatest. PHSC students will have now have access to additional scholarship funds through the generosity of Ms. Hess. 

Mary E. Kohout, R.N. believed in education and learning her entire life. At the age of 16, due to financial concerns within her family, she left high school without a diploma and started working to support her family. Following her marriage and starting a family, Mary was determined to complete her education. She enrolled in a GED program and earned her high school diploma in 1947.

Upon moving to Florida in 1972, Mary pursued her dream of becoming a nurse and enrolled in the nursing program at PHSC. She graduated and received her R.N. degree in 1980 at the age of 53. Mary became one of the first nurses to be employed at the newly opened Bayonet Point Regional Hospital.

Mary was a very caring and dedicated nurse. She continually renewed her R.N. license until last year at the age of 89. Sadly, Mary passed away in November 2017. Her family has established the Mary E. Kohout, R.N. Memorial Scholarship in her honor to assist PHSC nursing students.

The Mary E. Pearson Scholarship was established in 1991 to assist students attending PHSC with a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The Masaryktown Town Council established this scholarship in 1990 to assist PHSC students that reside in Masaryktown.

The volunteers of Medical Center of Trinity devote more than 50,000 hours each year to patients, visitors and staff. The group established this scholarship using proceeds from their gift shop and other fundraisers to benefit students in the medical field.

The Rotary Club of New Port Richey established this scholarship in 1979 to assist students in vocational programs. In 2008 the club renamed the scholarship in memory of Meghan E. Grey.

The Michael J. Skarupa and M. Frances Skarupa Scholarship was established to assist students enrolled in a health care program who demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship provides financial assistance to PHSC nursing students.

Dr. Muralidhar K. Acharya has the utmost of respect for nurses and wished to establish an endowment in memory of his father, Mr. Kalmanje Hari Achar. His gift of $250,000 provided matching funds for the Roy T. and Martha B. Hardy Nursing Scholarship Fund.

The Musunuru Family Scholarship fund was started during the PHSC 40th Anniversary celebration.

Myrtle "Chris" North graduated in 1940 as a registered nurse. She worked as a nurse for many years until she and her husband moved to New Port Richey and founded the North Funeral Home. She was an avid golfer, fisherman and camper.

NAIFA North Suncoast, Inc., established in 1981, is comprised of Suncoast area insurance and financial professionals from Clearwater to Inverness committed to excellence in our industry.

Nancy and John met when they were both teaching high school. Education was always important to them and they encouraged all five of their children to work hard and learn. They had a great life in Florida after retiring and their children wanted to honor their memory by establishing a scholarship to help students receive an education. 

Mr. Naresh and Dr. Bina Jain established an endowed scholarship in 2019 to assist PHSC students who reside in Pasco County. 

This scholarship was established by Dennis Murphy, former member of the PHSC Foundation board of directors.

Optimist clubs are made up of men and women who participate in activities dedicated to voluntary, constructive service to youth and community.

The Nicholaas Verstraten Scholarship was established in 1994 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The North Suncoast Chapter of the Florida Institute of CPA's is committed to the accountancy profession through education, training and community involvement. The members of this chapter provide outstanding service to public and private institutions as well as individuals.

This scholarship was established in 2017 to assist PHSC students enrolled in a health program.

Ms. Mary Ellen Ergle established this scholarship in memory of Dr. Omar Ergle to assist deserving PHSC students.

Formed in 1982, the Orange Blossom Classic Chevy Club displayed classic cars at an annual car show on PHSC's West Campus in New Port Richey for many years. The club dissolved at the end of 1998.

This scholarship was established in memory of Pam Lambert.

The Pasco County Bar Association established several endowed funds that were later merged into one. The scholarship honors respected attorneys and colleagues Donna Sumner Cox, Carol Jane Dudley and Timothy D. Hayes. Most of the funds were raised through an annual golf tournament.

The Pasco County Medical Society Alliance established this scholarship to support nursing students. The group raised the necessary funds for the scholarship through bake sales.

In 1983 the Pasco High School Class of 1943 contributed $1,200 to PHSC to establish an endowed scholarship. The fund was to support Pasco High School alumni and direct descendents of alumni. Each year at the annual Reunion of the Decades, the PHS reunion committee donates part of the proceeds from the reunion to the scholarship and also encourages alumni to contribute.

The Pasco Regional Medical Center Auxiliary wanted to offer support for nursing students at PHSC. The group began contributing to the scholarship each year.

The "Pathways for Success Scholars" is designed to provide PHSC students with the necessary financial, academic, and personal support that is conducive to their growth and overall development.

Patricia Mulieri, Ed.D., PHSC Professor Emerita was recognized at the December 2017 commencement ceremony by Dr. Rao Musunuru with a $10,000 contribution to establish the Patricia Hans Mulieri and James Mulieri Endowed Scholarship. Mulieri, and her husband, James, contributed an additional $15,000 for a $25,000 total scholarship fund reserved for PHSC students, 30 years of age or older with an interest in pursuing a degree in education.

Mulieri earned Professor Emerita status after retiring from her 26-year career at PHSC. Elected to the Pasco County Commission in 1994, she successfully juggled her responsibilities as a professor and her duties as a commissioner until she retired from PHSC in 2005. She served as a commissioner for 20 years.

The Patrick Grattan Annual Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 to assist first generation full-time students.

This scholarship was established by the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church of Masaryktown in memory of Paul Hlavac, who had loyally served the city and the church.

Drs. Lieber and Stilley of the Periodontal Health Center of New Port Richey specialize in the treatment of gum disease and diagnose and treat oral pathology. They recognize the need for quality dental hygiene professionals in the local community and decided to establish an annual scholarship to assist students in PHSC's dental hygiene program.

Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is a national, state and local organization for students interested in business. Members learn the value of competition on the district, state and national level. Members participate in leadership training, social, service and fundraising activities. PHSC's chapter of Phi Beta Lamba endowed this scholarship for students in the business field.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is an international honor society. PTK members are guided by hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service, and fellowship. Members are also recognized at the graduation ceremony. To be eligible for membership a PHSC student must have completed at least 12 credit hours with a 3.25 GPA. PHSC's chapter of Phi Theta Kappa endowed this scholarship through student-raised funds.

Philip R. Bailey was a beloved PHSC donor who endowed a scholarship in memory of his wife, Elizabeth Bailey. After Philip's death, his son established an endowment in his name.

This annual scholarship was established by the PHSC District Board of Trustees in support of PHSC students.  DBOT members donate their mileage reimbursement checks back to Fndn.

The PHSC General Annual Scholarship Fund was established to assist deserving PHSC students. 

This scholarship was established in 1998 by PHSC staff and faculty.

In 1983, approximately 50 acres of land at PHSC's North Campus in Brooksville was used to plant a large crop of pine trees.  Harvest revenue from the pine trees was utilized to establish the PHSC North Campus Trees Scholarship.

Each year the PHSC Foundation sponsors a Performing Arts Series for the cultural and social enrichment of the community. Since its inception, a group of retired men and women from the local community have served as volunteers during each performance. The volunteers also give generously to the fund. The Performing Arts Series and the Performing Arts Center Volunteers Scholarship would not be possible without this amazing group of philanthropic citizens.

This scholarship assists students who have participated in a tech prep program and maintain a GPA of 2.0 or higher.

The staff of HCA New Port Richey Hospital, now Community Hospital of New Port Richey, established this endowment as a way to memorialize former physicians.

In 1990, the Pilot Club of Brooksville established this endowed scholarship. Contributions are made in honor and memory of the club's members and their loved ones.

The Pilot Club of Zephyrhills established this endowed fund in 1993 to provide scholarships to PHSC students.

This endowment was created for the Porter Family with proceeds from the Second Annual Bash at the Ranch honoring the Porter Family for their continued support and commitment to PHSC.

This scholarship was established by the President's Administrative Council to support PHSC students.

The R. Kay Anderson scholarship was established in 1991 to provide scholarships to nursing students at PHSC.

Mrs. Judy Parker and her brother established this scholarship in memory of their father after his passing in 2008.

The Regency Communities Scholarship was established in 1987 to provide assistance to PHSC students pursing a degree in business.

The Regency Park Civic Association Scholarship was established to provide scholarships to PHSC students who reside in the Regency Park subdivision.

The Regional Healthcare Scholarship was established in 1997 to provide scholarships to nursing students at PHSC.

The staff of Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point established this scholarship as a way to memorialize former physicians.

This annual scholarship was established in 2017 to assist full-time or part-time students at PHSC.

Milton O. Jones, Ph.D. was PHSC's first president. He served as president from 1972 until his retirement in 1994. He oversaw the construction of all three campuses and the Spring Hill Center, and also the establishment of PHSC Foundation. Dr. Jones has established three scholarships in honor of family members and friends. Reverend James Barnhardt was a close friend of Dr. Jones' and made tremendous contributions to Dade City through the local Rotary Club.

In honor of Mrs. Dodge's tireless work, District Board of Trustee Rao Musunuru, M.D., established the Rhonda Dodge Endowed Scholarship Fund in 2018.

Richard Cooper was the first president of the former Ellis Security Bank and the First National Bank of Hudson. He and his wife were fond of PHSC and contributed to their endowed scholarship over many years.

Richard Joseph Stanaback was one of PHSC's first faculty members and was a beloved professor for 28 years. He was a dedicated instructor who enjoyed teaching national and state history. The College honored Stanaback at the May 2000 commencement ceremony. Stanaback died a few weeks before after a long fight with cancer. After receiving a plaque on behalf of his father, Joseph Stanaback gave then PHSC president Robert Judson a $10,000 check to create a scholarship in his father's name.

The Ridgewood High School Athletic Boosters Club created this scholarship in 1990 to assist PHSC students who attended Ridgewood High School and played on atleast one athletic team.

River Ridge Presbyterian Church established this scholarship in 1992 to assist PHSC students. The recipient of this scholarship must be a member of River Ridge Presbyterian Church.

Betty Cobb established this scholarship in memory of her son, Robert D. Maeser, who died while attending college and studying engineering. Her interest in PHSC began after touring the North Campus in Brooksville during the dedication of the library.

This scholarship was established in memory of Robert Jordan.

In recognition of her time serving as a trustee of PHSC, Dr. Rao Musunuru established this endowed scholarship in honor of Robin Schneider. 

Ronald Hinson graduated from Florida State University and served as a lieutenant in the US Navy. After his discharge, he received a master's degree from the University of Maryland and worked as a manager for the Container Corporation of America. He returned to Florida after his retirement to settle in Weeki Wachee. He was an avid volunteer in the local community.

Rosanne M. Weber was born on Long Island and moved with her family to Florida. At the age of 13 she was diagnosed with a rare brain condition that required many surgeries and procedures. In spite of her illness, she was determined to continue her education and maintained a happy and optimistic outlook. She was a student at PHSC, a member of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and College library volunteer.

Rose and Leonard Case were residents of Beacon Woods in New Port Richey, but were originally from New York. She was a buyer in a Long Island department store and he was an accountant who made his fortune in the stock market. Although Mr. Case had previously contributed to his alma mater, New York University, the couple decided to help local philanthropic organizations after they were established as Florida residents.

This scholarship fund was established to assist deserving PHSC students.

As an advocate of education and youth initiatives in the local community, Ms. Rosanne Smithwick established this endowed scholarship in honor of her mother, Rose Manguso.

The Rotary Club of Dade City established this scholarship to assist PHSC students who attend the East campus.

The Rotary Club of Dade City Sunrise established this annual scholarship in 2018 to assist PHSC students who reside in Dade City.

This endowed scholarship fund was established by the Rotary Club of New Port Richey in memory of Frank Parker, a longtime member and friend.

Marion Gunter, along with the Rotary Club of New Port Richey established this scholarship in memory of her husband, George Gunter. She and her husband moved to Pasco County in 1962 from Michigan, as George was a native of Florida.

The Rotary Club of New Port Richey established this scholarship in 2000 to provide scholarships to students who had participated in a tech prep program while in high school.

Israel Kacanek was a Rotarian for more than 50 years, with a perfect attendance record. He was dedicated to the community, donating countless hours of his life to Rotary activities and other community projects. They have chosen to honor his memory with an endowed scholarship.

Kevin Coit was a longtime member of the Rotary Club of Spring Hill and was committed to the community. Mr. Coit was a pharmacist at Eckerd Drugs for seventeen years. He fought a courageous battle with cancer, and in his memory, the scholarship will benefit students in the medical field.

This scholarship was established in 1995 to help students who demonstrate financial need.

The Rotary Club of Wesley Chapel First Responder Scholarship was created to recognize local youth who would like to serve as first responders. This was organized by First Responders and Rotarians in order to memorialize those lost on 9/11.

The Rotary Club of Zephyrhills Daybreak established an endowed scholarship fund in 1993 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The Rotary Club of Zephyrhills Tech Prep Scholarship was established by the Rotary Club of Zephyrhills in 1994 to assist students who had participated in the tech prep program.

The late Roy and Martha Hardy were local humanitarians and philanthropists whose annual fish fry and chicken dinner fundraisers in Dade City generated donations to help people in the community who could not afford medical services. The success of the fundraisers prompted the establishment of the Roy Hardy Benevolent Fund to ensure that local individuals had access to superior health care.

In 2019, the PHSC Foundation embarked on the Nursing Scholarship Challenge, with a goal of raising $1 million for nursing scholarships. The Roy Hardy Benevolent Fund Board committed a donation of $430,000 to establish the Roy T. and Martha B. Hardy Endowed Scholarship Fund at PHSC. The scholarship will provide over 20 nursing scholarships to PHSC students annually.

The mission of the Royal Oak Nursing Center is to serve residents with superior care in a loving, dignified and compassionate manner. They do this by engaging highly trained, competent and caring team members and supporting our PHSC community.

The Ruth and W.P. (Doc) Murphy Scholarship was established to assist student leaders at PHSC.

The Ruth J. Kavli Memorial Scholarship was established in 2010 to provide scholarships to PHSC students in good academic standing that demonstrate financial need.

The Samuel & Muirene Wilke Memorial Scholarship was established in 2004 to provide scholarships to deserving PHSC students.

In October 2017, Pasco-Hernando State College’s former Assistant Vice President of Policy/General Counsel Stephen Schroeder was honored for his dedicated service to the college. District Board of Trustee member, current chair and local philanthropist Rao Musunuru, M.D., donated $10,000 to the PHSC Foundation to establish an emergency fund, in Schroeder’s name, to assist military veterans enrolled at PHSC.

The Seven Springs Rotary Club established this scholarship in 1996 to provide scholarships to PHSC students.

In honor of Sheriff Nocco, Dr. Musunuru, PHSC District Board of Trustee, presented a $10,000 check to the PHSC Foundation at the 2019 Winter Commencement to establish the Sheriff Chris Nocco Scholarship. This scholarship will assist students enrolled in the Law Enforcement Academy. 

In 1986, under Sheriff Thomas A. Mylander, the Hernando County Sheriff's Office established a Junior Deputy League program for Hernando County fifth graders. The program was designed to educate youth through classroom presentations given by a deputy, covering such topics as drugs, safety and consequences of crime. After the success of the program, members of the Junior Deputy League established a scholarship at PHSC.

Skilled Health Services operated several health care facilities in Pasco and Hernando counties. The company established two scholarships at PHSC, one for Pasco County residents and one for Hernando County residents, to benefit students in health programs.

The Spring Hill Art League established this endowed scholarship fund to provide scholarships to PHSC students pursing a degree in art.

The Spring Hill Garden Club's guiding mission is to inspire understanding, appreciation, and conservation of plants in gardens and natural areas, and to advance a sustainable relationship between people and nature.

Chris Stambaugh has been an adjunct instructor at PHSC for several years and is are aware of the lack of financial resources and the demands of students' outside jobs.

This scholarship was established in 2015 to assist deserving PHSC students.

Stephen W. Stoehr was a retired US Navy nuclear medicine technologist. After leaving the service, he decided to enter the nursing LPN program. He loved the nursing profession and all of the people he was able to help over the years.

The members of MOAA, retired military officers, believe in helping others and endowed a scholarship to benefit PHSC students.

The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation established this scholarship to support PHSC students pursue higher education.

The Suncoast Credit Union Foundation First Generation in College Scholarship was established in 2016 to assist first generation in college students.

The Suncoast Sampler was PHSC Foundation's annual fundraising event for more than ten years. Held at Gulfview Square Mall, the Sampler was a popular community event featuring local restaurant "tastings" along with beverages, music, and prize drawings.

The SunTrust Foundation Annual Scholarship Fund was established to assist first generation in college students at PHSC.

SunTrust Bank of the Nature Coast established an endowed scholarship in the name of Nancy Wilkes, chair of PHSC's District Board of Trustees and vice president of sales and marketing at SunTrust. "I am indeed honored," said Ms. Wilkes. "SunTrust's scholarship will benefit residents of our community for years to come, and I will certainly remain a friend of PHSC's for life."

For many years the Florida Downs & Turf Club, now Tampa Bay Downs, scheduled a day when the proceeds would benefit PHSC. Called "PHSC Charity Race Day," the event attracted many of the College's board members, faculty, staff and friends.

Lucy Morgan, PHSC class of 1975, was the first woman to win the Pulitzer Prize in the investigative reporting category. In the 1960s, as a divorced woman raising three children, she entered the non-traditional world of investigative reporting and made history. Morgan retired from her latest position as Tallahassee Bureau Chief for the St. Petersburg Times. She still serves as a contributing writer to the Times, and is a legend among journalists. Morgan recieved PHSC's Distinguished Alumni Award in 2009. The St. Petersburg Times established this annual scholarship to honor Morgan.

Roy Bain was publisher of the Pasco, Citrus and Hernando Times and was a member of the PHSC Foundation Board of Directors for more than ten years. He was instrumental in securing funding, not only from the St. Petersburg Times, but from the local community, for the Performing Arts Series, The St. Petersburg Times Faculty Chair, and student scholarships.

Tampa Electric Company is very supportive of PHSC. TECO executive Edward C. Blommel served as chair of the PHSC Foundation board of directors from 2005-2007.

The Phillips family graciously offered the use of their private home to help raise funds for PHSC's 40th Anniversary.

Teresa Sturgill was a Florida native, born in Miami. She was a successful real estate agent who served as president of the Hernando County Association of REALTORS, and was honored as REALTOR of the year. She achieved much success, even though she had a learning disability. She was an adventuresome person who enjoyed boating, camping and motorcycles, and even joined the State Alligator Hunt when the opportunity arose. Teresa, whose generosity was boundless, passed away after a long battle with cancer at the age of 55.

"As the first among my household to go to college, and as a person identified as a minority, I had to endure and overcame the challenges of paying for my own tuition, as this was not something my family could afford. Women in my family were a strong and loving influence on me. My mother and grandmother, both immigrants from Beirut Lebanon gave me more love and emotional support than money could ever buy. 

I am giving this scholarship to PHSC because I see the greatness in its leaders and its students. PHSC is a college that inspires students to pursue their passions, while also getting involved and contributing to society. I believe in the mission and vision of PHSC and I know its students will go on to do great things."

Aspen Dental established this scholarship in 2022 to financially assist students enrolled in the dental hygiene program at PHSC.

Charles Jaap was an instructor at PHSC and his son, Barry Jaap, was an outstanding member of PHSC's student body. Barry's brother, Willis "Andy" Andrew Jaap, was also a PHSC student who earned an associate of arts/science degree. Their family and friends have memorialized Charles, Andy, and Barry through this endowed scholarship.

The Geraldine Bishop Second Chance Scholarship was established by Geraldine Bishop in 2014.  This scholarship is intended for those students above the traditional age who are returning to school to obtain a college degree.  Candidates of this scholarship must demonstrate financial need and the desire and ability to overcome barriers in order to achieve their goals.

The Helios Education Foundation First Generation Scholars Program was created in 2006 to provide scholarships to first-generation college students pursuing a degree in education.

Herman Beman was unable to pursue Higher Education studies as a young man. Later in his life as an adult, he attended night classes, studying various sciences at the local college instilling a curiosity of the history of mathematics and physics reseach in his grandson, who established this scholarship in his grandfather's memory. Because of this shared family interest, this scholarship will support a student with the aspirations of continuing their studies in the field of mathematics or physics after earning their degree at PHSC.

This scholarship was established in memory of Jeffrey Bigelow by his wife, Kristine, along with the Rotary Club of New Port Richey.  This scholarship will assist students who demonstrate financial need and maintain a 3.0 GPA or higher.

The Next Step Scholarship was established to assist PHSC students.

Mr. and Mrs. Otto Weitzenkorn established the Otto & Elaine Weitzenkorn Family Scholarship in 1984. Dade City and the East Pasco County area have been very supportive of the Weitzenkorn family for over 70 years. The creation of the Otto and Elaine Weitzenkorn Family Scholarship is a token of their apprecitation.

The Robert and Theresa Offi Radiography Scholarship was established in 2014 to provide financial assistance to students enrolled in the Radiography program.

Sharon Grimes was a paralegal with the Law Office of Philips and Raaymakers, PLLC for 28 years until she developed terminal cancer. She had an incredible legal mind, was hard working, conscientious, compassionate and caring with clients, and of the highest integrity. She was the glue that kept everything together in the office and was a major part of all its success.

The Stephen J. Wuertz Family Memorial Scholarship was established in 2017 by his daughter to assist deserving PHSC students who fall outside financial need guidelines and are often overlooked for scholarships. Stephen J. Wuertz passed away in 2010 after an 11-year battle with cancer. He never lost sight of the important things in life, and he always supported his children in whatever they pursued. Because of this, his daughter, who now works for the College, set up this fund to support students in his memory. 

The Suncoast Health and Education Foundation Scholarship was established in 2015 to assist first year PHSC students.

Thomas A. Plein of Oshkosh, Wisconsin established the Foundation in the 1980's to advance his family's philanthropic interests. The family owned 7-Up bottling plants and wanted to give back to the community. His nephew, Steve Plein of New Port Richey and TAP board member, was instrumental in facilitating the gift to support students at PHSC.

Mr. Daniel Abou-Jaoude established the Toni Chukri Abou-Jaoude Memorial Scholarship in 2012 in memory of his father.

US Naval Captain Robert C. Kennedy spent 28 years in military service and had attained the rank of Captain upon his retirement. His family members are all top students in mathematics.

Voiture Locale 1576, 40/8 is the honor society of the American Legion organization formed after World War I in 1921. Only Legionnaire members are invited to join. The numbers in the name are based on the insignia on French boxcars that transported soldiers (40) or horses (8) during World War I. In 1955, the group recognized the shortage of nurses and began to provide financial assistance to students pursuing a nursing degree.

Vonnie Roberts was a dedicated nurse supervisor at Pasco Regional Medical Center, now Bayfront Health Dade City, who was killed by an estranged ex-husband. The money collected for this scholarship is in her honor.

Milton O. Jones, Ph.D. was PHSC's first president. He served as president from 1972 until his retirement in 1994. He oversaw the construction of all three campuses and the Spring Hill Center, and also the establishment of PHSC Foundation. Dr. Jones has established three scholarships in honor of family members and friends. Mr. and Mrs. W.A. and Aletha Jones were his parents.

Wells Fargo bought out Wachovia and officially changed the name of the scholarship to Wells Fargo in December 2011.

Charlie Moore was instrumental in encouraging the Rotary Club to fund a scholarship at PHSC. He was very active in the club and was especially fond of the East Campus in Dade City. In 2005, after Moore's passing, the club decided to rename the scholarship in his memory.

West Pasco Chamber of Commerce established this scholarship in 1990 to assist deserving PHSC students.

The PHSC Foundation and the West Pasco Dental Association orchestrated the effort to raise one quarter of a million dollars to create PHSC's Dental Hygiene Program, which ranks among the best in the nation.

The West Pasco Sertoma Scholarship, established by West Pasco Sertoma in 1987, provides scholarships to PHSC students who attend classes at the New Port Richey campus.

Madeline Carney endowed this scholarship in memory of her husband, William Carney. She was very impressed with PHSC and wanted to help its students. When she died, she left the College $1 million in trust to assist needy students attending the West Campus in New Port Richey.

William Ardeen North, a former Rotarian, along with his wife, Myrtle "Chris" North, founded the North Funeral Home after moving to New Port Richey.

Original letter 5/13/1999 gave guidelines of 1. Pasco County resident;  2. Tech-Prep or technical/vocational;  3. Good student.

William Moyse, III and Ms. Alice Jeanne Moyse Shurtz established this scholarship in memory of their parents, William and Barbara Moyse. The scholarship gives preference to underserved local students who are first generation in college and whose families are reflective of those who have traditionally made their living doing seasonal farm work in East Pasco County.

The Wings Level Aviation Endowed Scholarship was established to assist students enrolled in the aviation program with a GPA of 3.0 or greater. Preference will be given to minority students.

Since 1974,the Withlacoochee Rockhounds have been devoted to fostering the interest and promoting the knowledge of minerals, gems, fossils, lapidary arts and earth science through regular meetings, informative programs and field trips. Since 1995 they have used the proceeds from their annual Gem, Mineral and Jewelry Show to fund the scholarship.

The Women in Education Scholarship was inspired by women educators reaching back to encourage female students preparing to enter the field of law enforcement, public safety and service, nursing, finance or business.

Woody Wynell Walls was an occupational specialist for 19 years in the Pasco County school system. She began her long career in counseling in 1970 at Pasco High School. In 1974, she became one of Land O' Lakes High School's first staff members after it opened its doors to students. She counseled students there for more than 17 years.
